The COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund Launched to Support the World Health Organization

North Texans encouraged to help our most vulnerable

(Dallas/ Fort Worth) - The world is suffering unimaginable and unprecedented loss from COVID-19. It is impacting individuals personally and professionally. The Dallas Chapter of the United Nations Association (UNA-USA Dallas) is working with the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and its global partners to unify our voice and communicate loudly: We stand with the World Health Organization (WHO) to beat the coronavirus. Our ask for you is to take action to help WHO detect, prevent, and respond to the coronavirus by giving to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. Donations support WHO’s work to track and understand the spread of the virus; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information; and to accelerate efforts to develop vaccines, tests, and treatments.

Donations can be made by visiting: www.covid19responsefund.org. You can also donate by text via U.S. mobile carriers. To give $25, text WHO25 to 501501. To give $50, text WHO50 to 501501.

“The coronavirus threatens to cripple public health systems across the globe and the vitally important services they provide.,” said Lisa Winkley, chapter president of UNA-USA Dallas. “The World Health Organization needs our support now more than ever, and the Solidarity Response Fund will help us weather the effects of this pandemic.”

Due to the large amount of speculation regarding COVID-19, this is a reminder to rely on official sources for accurate information. Help control the spread of rumors by encouraging individuals to visit WHO’s website: www.who.int

A challenge of this magnitude requires partners and the alignment of resources to reach the scale and scope needed to bend the COVID-19 curve. UNA-USA Dallas will continue to work with our partner organizations to deepen our impact around these two critical focus areas. We will share additional information and resources in the coming days to help tide over the effect of the pandemic in North Texas.

The United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA): UNA-USA is a grassroots movement of Americans who support the vital work of the United Nations in U.S. communities, colleges, and Congress.
